Instructions for an Air Cast
Air casts are designated for patients recovering from bone fractures after they have already worn a hard cast. Patients are more comfortable in Air casts in comparison to traditional ones because they can adjust the pressure against the leg by tightening the straps or inflating the two air cells on the sides. Patients will continue to receive the same level of support that they would from a traditional cast, which is the reason Air casts are a desirable treatment option for patients who want to walk without crutches.Things You'll Need

1
Put your socks on your feet and insert a gel innersole on the bottom of the Air cast boot underneath the lining material. Slide your heel back into the Air cast.
-
2
Unfold the Air cast lining material completely. Grip an end of the lining material in each hand on either side of your foot. Fold the lining material in your right hand down over your shin. Fold the lining material in your left hand over the first layer of lining covering your shin.
-
3
Position the face plate over the lining material covering your shin and foot. Pull the Air cast straps over the faceplate until they are snug. Put a sneaker on your other foot.
-
4
Push the tip of the air pump bulb into one of the two air cell ports on the back of the Air cast above your ankle. Depress the bulb repeatedly until the air cell pocket feels snug against your leg. Repeat for the remaining air cell.
-
5
Keep your injured leg straight and your injured foot pointed out at an angle whenever you walk in the Air cast.
