How to Use Night Splints for Bunions

The use of night splints for the treatment of bunions has long been a source of comfort as well as an aid to stretch the tendons typically shortened by the onset of bunions. Simple to use and inexpensive to purchase, night splints are a valuable source of pain relief.

Instructions

    • 1

Bathe or wash the foot, making sure it's completely dry prior to putting on the bunion night splint.

    • 2

Slide the toe cushion between the big toe and it's adjoining toe, with the wide leather strap on the inside of your foot. This will provide proper alignment and cushion your big toe.

    • 3

Wrap the fastening section, usually elastic in nature, around the bottom of your foot and connect to the wide leather strap. Tighten the strap until the pressure has been relieved and your big toe is straight.

    • 4

Remove the splint in the morning. If needed, you can cleanse it with a gentle cleaning cloth or a sanitizing cloth.
