- Heals in 2-3 weeks

Third-degree burns:

- Skin is white or charred

- May be numb or have a leathery texture

- Requires medical treatment and may result in scarring

Fourth-degree burns:

- Involve damage to all layers of the skin and underlying tissue

- May damage muscles, tendons, and bones

- Require immediate medical treatment and may result in amputation
