What cures a burn?
Time: most minor burns heal on their own within a couple of weeks.Cool the burn: run cold water over a minor burn for at least 20 minutes. Don't apply ice directly to the burn. Avoid using butter, ointments, or egg whites.
Cover the burn loosely with a clean bandage. This will help protect the burn from infection and promote healing.
Take over-the-counter pain medication if needed, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
Elevate the burned area if it is swollen.
Don't break blisters. If a blister breaks, clean the area gently with soap and water, then cover it with a bandage.
Avoid putting lotion on sunburns because it can trap heat and slow healing.
Aloe Vera gel can be useful in treating first-degree burns.
