1
Take an over-the-counter pain medication. Ibuprofen or acetaminophen will work well. These medicines will help with pain as well as swelling.
-
2
Apply a thin layer of aloe vera gel to the burnt areas as needed. To apply, place a small amount of the gel onto your fingertips and pat onto the burnt areas. Use gentle pressure and do not rub, as this will cause friction and more pain. Aloe vera will cool and sooth your burns, creating instant, though short-lived, relief.
-
3
Place your ice pack in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Do not put the ice pack into the freezer. If the ice pack is too cold, it may lead to further burning and more pain.
-
4
Hold the ice pack to the burnt areas as needed. The burns should begin to heal after a day or two.
