Will Burnt Eyelashes Grow Back?
-
Function
-
If you've been unfortunate enough to burn off your eyelashes, rest easy. They will almost certainly grow back, unless the follicle is damaged enough to either kill the lash or alter the growth process. The follicle of both hair and eyelash is a fairly resilient organ and has a strong tendency to grow back.
Time Frame
-
Typically, an eyelash will take between seven and eight weeks to return. You may feel like you look a bit odd in the meantime, but hang in there, they will be back.
Considerations
-
If you don't want to wait seven to eight weeks or feel too self-conscious about your appearance, there are a number of fake eyelashes available. They're made in many different sizes for either gender.
Significance
-
Eyelashes protect your eyes from injury by either shielding them from debris and warning you when something is near---just think about how sensitive an accidental tug can be on a lash. Your lashes can also diffract a certain amount of light from coming into the eye, a great benefit on an extremely sunny day. So the next time you think your lashes are just for looks, think again.
Expert Insight
-
Whenever something gets close enough to burn off your lashes, it's a wise choice to seek medical advice to check the health of your eyes.
