Instructions for a Polar Pacer Heart Rate Monitor

The Polar Pacer heart rate monitoring system consists of a strap that monitors your heart rate and transmits it to watch-like wrist receiver. Other than monitoring your heart rate, the Pacer has added features like an alarm and stopwatch. Learning to use your Polar Pacer heart monitor is simple and takes just minutes, leaving you more time to spend on the activities you enjoy.

  1. Polar Transmitter and Elastic Strap

    • The Polar transmitter uses electrodes to monitor your heart rate and then transmits the data to your Polar Pacer wrist receiver. To use the transmitter, attach the transmitter to the electric strap and adjust the strap to fit you. Wear the transmitter strapped snugly to your chest, just under the breast. Wet the electrodes on the back of the transmitter before use. For best results, the transmitter should be worn directly against the skin.

    • With its large digital time display, the Polar Pacer wrist receiver can double as a watch when you are not wearing the transmitter. The functions of the wrist receiver are performed by two buttons on the front of the receiver. The left button is used to start heart measurement in heart monitoring mode and the right button is used to stop the measurement. When setting the time of day, press the right and left buttons simultaneously, then use the left button to toggle through the receiver's various modes until you reach the setting mode. Use the left and right buttons to increase and decrease the number values until the desired time is reached. In stopwatch mode, the left button is used to start and stop timing. In all modes you can illuminate the backlight by pressing the right button.

    Care and Maintenance

    • Proper care and maintenance will help keep your Polar Pacer heart rate monitoring system functioning at its best. Keep your heart rate monitoring system clean, dry and out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. After each use, wipe the transmitter with a cloth dampened in a solution of mild soap and water. Dry the transmitter with a soft cloth and then store in a cool, dry location. The estimated life of the battery in the Polar transmitter is 2,500 hours. When the batteries in the transmitter or wrist receiver need to be changed, contact Polar customer support about its battery replacement service. Do not attempt the repairs yourself to avoid voiding the warranty on your heart monitoring system.
