How do you save choking child?

Steps for helping a choking child:

1. Stay calm and call for help. If the child is conscious and breathing, encourage them to cough. If they are not breathing or are unconscious, call for help immediately.

2. Position the child. Place the child face down on your lap or arm, with their head lower than their chest.

3. Give back blows. Use the heel of your hand to deliver five quick, firm blows between the child's shoulder blades.

4. Check the child's mouth. After each set of back blows, quickly check the child's mouth for any visible object. If you see an object, try to remove it with your finger.

5. Perform chest thrusts. If the object is not visible or cannot be removed, turn the child face up and place your hands on their chest. Give five quick, firm chest thrusts, pushing down about 1 inch (2.5 cm).

6. Continue alternating back blows and chest thrusts until the object is dislodged, the child begins breathing, or help arrives.

7. If the child becomes unconscious, start CPR immediately.
