How to Raise Your Good HDL Cholesterol

Knowing how to raise your good HDL cholesterol will help you to live a healthier and longer life. Scientist and doctors now know that there are three parts to cholesterol: LDL, HDL and triglycerides. It is important to keep your HDL cholesterol high and your LDL cholesterol and triglycerides low.

      Eat Fresh Olive Oil

      Eat fresh and uncooked olive oil everyday. It is very tasty and will compliment many vegetables and other foods. Try drizzling it on your salad, dipping your bread into it or pouring it over your fresh garlic.

      Eat Almonds

      Eat almonds everyday. You should be eating raw almonds. Raw almonds are not roasted, salted or cooked in any way. Many nutrients may be lost in cooking or roasting almonds. Salted almonds will add too much salt to your diet.

      Eat salmon or another kind of fresh fish each day. It is best to eat wild caught salmon. Farmed salmon does not contain the high amount of Omega 3 oils that wild salmon contains. Farmed salmon may also have dyes or other unnatural ingredients in it. Tuna, trout, sardines and mackerel are all excellent sources of Omega 3 oils and all help fight bad cholesterol just as well as wild caught salmon.

      Exercise regularly to keep your cholesterol levels balanced. Exercise helps you to maintain a healthy weight, burn off excess fat and calories and keeps you healthy. Exercise does not have to be grueling. Walking is an easy and simple exercise that almost everyone can do without any equipment. Walk everyday for optimal health.

      Drink water everyday. Do not assume that you are taking in enough water from foods or other liquids. Drinks such as milk, coffee, tea and soda dehydrate the body and leave it requiring more water.
