Side Effects of Crestar
Crestor is a cholesterol lowering medication that blocks the production of cholesterol in the body. The medication works by reducing the levels of LDL (bad cholesterol), while simultaneously raising levels of HDL (good cholesterol). As with most cholesterol medications, there are a number of side effects associated with using the drug.-
Common Side Effects

Some of the side effects include dizziness, weakness, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, stuffy nose, sore throat, painful or burning urination, memory loss and headache. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using Crestor, they only affect a small number of users.
Severe Side Effects

Unfortunately, there also are a number of severe side effects associated with using this drug. Some of these side effects include muscle pain, tenderness, general weakness, fever, chills, dark-colored urine, unusual urination patterns, severe nausea, stomach pain, clay-colored stools, chest pain, yellowing of the skin and eyes and swelling in your hands and feet. These side effects are also rare and do not affect a large number of users.

Before beginning use of this medication, please tell your doctor if you suffer from any of the following ailments: underactive thyroid, kidney disease, epilepsy, muscle disorder, electrolyte imbalance, severe infection, or if you have had a recent surgery or medical procedure. People from an Asian background may absorb the medication more quickly than others, so please consult with your doctor before beginning use. Crestor is classified as FDA pregnancy category X and has been known to cause birth defects in unborn babies.
Usage

Always take Crestor exactly as it was prescribed to you by your doctor and never exceed the dosage instructions on the label. This medication is usually taken once a day and should always be taken with a glass of water. Crestor can be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time every day. To make sure the drug is working properly, regular blood tests must be scheduled with your doctor throughout the course of treatment.
