Side Effects of Antara

Antara, a prescription drug used to control high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in users, is a lipid-lowering agent used in conjunction with a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat. As with any other medication, there are a few side effects to using the drug.

  1. Common Side Effects

    • Two of the most common side effects of using Antara are headaches and nausea. These side effects usually subside after the first couple of weeks and should not cause any long-term discomfort to users. Headaches and nausea are not common in all users, with some users experiencing little or no side effects of the drug at all.

    Severe Side Effects

    • There are a number of severe side effects that can come as a result of using Antara. These symptoms include severe allergic reactions (such as hives, itching, trouble breathing and tightness in the chest), chills, sore throat, chest pain, dark urine, fever, muscle pain, muscle tenderness, pale stools, vomiting, shortness of breath and unusual bruising or bleeding.

    • Antara has been known to cause dizziness and drowsiness in some users. Do not use the drug in conjunction with alcohol or while driving a vehicle. Always follow the weight loss and diet instructions given by your doctor for best results. The drug should also be used extremely cautiously in both children and individuals over the age of 65 as they are usually the most susceptible to side effects.

    Usage

    • In order to avoid some of the above side effects, it is important to use Antara correctly. Antara is taken by mouth and can be taken with or without food. Always swallow the pill whole and avoid breaking the pill into smaller pieces. If you miss a dose of the drug, continue your schedule as expected and never take two pills at the same time.
