• Synvisc is a combination of hylan A fluid, hylan B gel and salt water. It is made from the combs of chickens.

How It Is Given

• Synvisc is an injectable medication. The injection is given in a doctor's office.

What It Does

• Injections of Synvisc act as a supplement to the synovial fluid of the knee. After completion of the three injections, Synvisc can increase the fluid and allow the knee to move more freely.

Side Effects

• Redness and swelling and the injection site are possible. Rashes and itching have been reported. Any more severe complications are very rare.

Considerations

• Synvisc requires three injections to work for osteoarthritis knee plain. They are given at one week intervals.
