Drink plenty of water. Mayo Clinic recommends 8-9 cups of water per day. Drinking water has many health benefits, including keeping the throat lubricated. Add a teaspoonful of honey to boiled water and leave it to cool until you are able to drink it. The honey will soothe a dry throat. Drink herbal tea -- such as peppermint tea, which has soothing properties -- to add flavor to your fluids. Avoid caffeine and alcohol, which dry the throat.

Mix 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon clear corn syrup and 6 ounces warmed, distilled water. Gargle with the mixture as quietly as possible for at least two minutes. Do not rinse. Repeat regularly to soothe and lubricate a dry throat.

Spray a throat spray in the back of your throat. Follow the manufacturer's directions for use. The natural oils in the spray lubricate the throat tissues.
