  Open the DayQuil bottle. Pour the appropriate dosage into dose cup or tablespoon. According to Vicks, dosage recommendations for Dayquil Liquid are as follows: adults and children aged 12 years and older should take 2 tbsp. or 30 milliliters (mL) every four hours; children from age 6 to age 12 years should take one tbsp. or 15 mL every four hours. Do not take more than four doses of Dayquil in a 24-hour period. Parents should consult a doctor before giving Dayquil Liquid to children aged 4 to 6 years and children younger than the age of 4 years should not take Dayquil.

  Drink all of the medication.

  Take another dose of medicine every six to eight hours.

  Open the package and remove the recommended dosage. The dosage recommendations for DayQuil LiquiCaps are two caps every four hours for those aged 12 years and older and no more than 12 caps in a 24 hour period. Parents should consult a doctor before administering LiquiCaps to children younger than the age of 12 years.
