What to expect in a stomach flu?

Symptoms of the stomach flu may include:

* Nausea

* Vomiting

* Diarrhea

* Abdominal pain

* Fever

* Chills

* Headache

* Muscle aches

* Fatigue

* Loss of appetite

The stomach flu is usually mild and resolves on its own within a few days. However, it can be more serious in young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

If you have any of the symptoms of the stomach flu, it is important to stay hydrated and to avoid spreading the infection to others. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water, broth, or electrolyte solutions. Avoid sugary drinks, alcohol, and caffeine. Eat bland foods, such as rice, bananas, and toast. Get plenty of rest and stay home from work or school until you are feeling better. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom and before eating.

If your symptoms are severe or do not improve after a few days, see your doctor.
