Homemade Cough Relief
Coughing is a natural function that helps the body to clear the throat, removing any irritants, but prolonged coughing is unlikely to have any benefits, and can cause sore throat and further discomfort. While there are many cough remedies available at drug stores, these can contain undesirable ingredients, such as preservatives. Instead, try making your own natural cough remedies.Things You'll Need
- Sprigs of peppermint
- Boiling water
- Mug
- Honey
- Lemon
- Dried thyme

Boil 500ml of water. To the boiling water, add some sprigs of peppermint, and stir to ensure the herbs are completely covered in water. Let seep five minutes, pour and drink.

Squeeze the juice of one lemon into a saucepan, and add enough honey to make the mixture approximately 9 parts lemon to 1 part honey. Heat gently, and pour into a sealable container. Take one spoonful whenever necessary, and throw away leftovers each day.

Put 3 tablespoons of dried thyme in a saucepan, and pour 3 8-ounce glasses of boiling water over it. Leave the mixture until it is room temperature, and strain to remove the thyme. Add 1 8-ounce glass of honey, and stir well. Take one tablespoon six times a day.
