How to Use a Vicks Vaposteam
According to Drugs.com, Vicks Vaposteam Liquid will relieve some of the symptoms associated with the common cold, including cough and nasal congestion. The liquid is used in conjunction with a Vicks Vaporizer to quiet a cough in adults and children over the age of 2. You can inhale the Vicks VapoSteam liquid up to three times a day for seven days. Unplug the Vicks Vaporizer and remove the heating element, located on the top of the unit and connected to the electrical cord. Lift it slowly and turn it counter-clockwise until the tabs securing the element come free.

Fill the vaporizer's reservoir to the "Max" water level with cool tap water.

Set the heating element back into its original position by aligning the two locking tabs into their intended slots. Turn the heating element clockwise to lock it into place.

Set the Vicks Vaporizer onto a steady, flat surface, such as a table. Avoid placing the vaporizer onto the floor where someone can kick it or push it over easily.

Pour one tbsp. of Vicks Vaposteam Liquid for every one quart of water used into the medicine cup, located on the front of the heating element where the steam vents are located.

Plug the unit into the wall. Allow a few minutes for the unit to release the vaporized steam.

Sit or stand next to the Vicks Vaporizer and breathe in the medicated vapors. Drape a towel over your head to trap the vapors near your face.
