Timex Indiglo Thermometer Instructions
The Timex Indiglo thermometer comes with a bendable tip and Indiglo digital readout for easy temperature taking and reading. This thermometer can be used orally, under an arm or rectally to take a temperature reading. It will recall the last temperature reading for you when you turn it on, and it will shut itself off automatically after 10 minutes. Oral Use

Put a probe cover on the thermometer tip.

Bend the thermometer tip down slightly, and turn the thermometer on by pressing the "On/Off" button. Wait until the display reads "Lo" and then an "F" flashes.

Put the thermometer tip underneath the patient's tongue, and make sure he keeps his mouth closed.

Remove the thermometer from the patient's mouth after it beeps four times. The Indiglo night-light on the display will turn on, and there will be a temperature readout displayed.

Turn the thermometer off by pressing the "On/Off" button. Throw away the used probe cover. Wash the thermometer with soapy water or wipe it off with isopropyl alcohol.
Underarm Use

Put a probe cover on the thermometer tip.

Turn the thermometer on by pressing the "On/Off" button. Wait until the display reads "Lo" and then an "F" flashes.

Remove the patient's clothing, ensure that the patient's under arm is dry, and then insert the thermometer under the armpit.

Hold the patient's arm down over the thermometer to maintain its contact with skin until the thermometer beeps four times. Remove the thermometer from the patient's armpit.

The Indiglo night-light on the display will turn on, and there will be a temperature readout displayed. Turn the thermometer off by pressing the "On/Off" button. Throw away the used probe cover. Wash the thermometer with soapy water or wipe it off with isopropyl alcohol.
Rectal Use

Put a probe cover on the thermometer tip. Turn your baby or child over on her stomach and lay her in your lap with her legs dangling down, or place her stomach up on a flat surface.

Turn the thermometer on by pressing the "On/Off" button. Wait until the display reads "Lo" and then an "F" flashes.

Spread the child's buttocks with one hand, and insert the thermometer tip into her rectum approximately an 1/2 inch. Hold the thermometer in place until it beeps four times. Remove the thermometer from the child's rectum.

The Indiglo night-light on the display will turn on, and there will be a temperature readout displayed.
