1
Blow your nose regularly, even when you do not feel the need to cleanse your nasal passages. The mucus in your throat is normally caused by drainage from the nose to your throat. Keeping the nose clean prevents the mucus from making its way to your throat.

Combine a glass of warm water with a 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well and gargle often during the day. The salt water will help to thin the mucus, making it easier to get rid of. It may also provide some temporary relief from the discomfort associated with mucus in the throat. Do not swallow this mixture as it may lead to dehydration. Simply spit into the sink when finished and gargle with clean water to remove the salt.

3
Create a paste from ginger powder and honey and take a spoonful of this mixture several times a day. These two natural ingredients are renowned for their healing ability.

4
Stay away from dairy products. Drinking milk, eating ice cream and adding butter to food naturally increases your body's production of mucus. The thick nature of these items creates mucus that sticks in the throat. Removing dairy from the diet helps.

5
Quit smoking immediately. Inhaling smoke can irritate the throat and nose and lead to further mucus problems. By cutting first-and second-hand smoke from your life, you will see a distinct difference in throat mucus.
