Excedrin Vs. Advil For Sinus Pain

Sinus pain can be debilitating. It can cause drowsiness and lead to migraine headaches if not treated properly. There are many drugs that you can use to treat sinus pain, but some of the most common are Excedrin and Advil.

  1. Excedrin

    • Excedrin is a combination of three drugs in one pill: acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine. This combination is a great choice for sinus pain because it has two pain relievers plus the caffeine, which stimulates the central nervous system. The aspirin in Excedrin is also an anti-inflammatory, helping to calm the sinus cavity.

    Advil

    • Advil is one drug: ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is a good choice to treat sinus pain because it is a pain reliever, fever reducer and anti-inflammatory. Advil is recommended for mild to moderate sinus pain.

    Excedrin Considerations

    • Excedrin should not be given to children under the age of 12 because it contains caffeine and aspirin. You should not use Excedrin if you are allergic to caffeine or acetaminophen or if you have asthma.

    Advil Considerations

    • Advil should not be used by people who suffer from heart disease or high blood pressure as it can lead to life-threatening conditions. If you have gastrointestinal issues such as ulcers, Advil can be fatal.

    • Before using any drug for longer than 14 days, you should consult a physician. The overuse or abuse of these drugs can lead to serious health conditions.
