Opening the Sinus Cavity
-
1
Use naturally remedies first. Mix one cup of warm water with a half teaspoon of sea salt. Stir the mixture until the salt is completely dissolved. Pour the solution into a neti pot. Place the opening of the neti pot on the right nostril. Tilt the head upward so that the chin is parallel with the shoulders. Allow the solution to go throughout the sinus cavity and empty out the other nostril. Gently blow the nose and repeat on the other nostril.

2
Purchase saline spray from the local pharmacy or grocery store. Spray twice in each nostril, three times a day to moisten and clean out the sinus cavity. Blow your nose before and after application for the greatest effect.

Find a clean wash cloth. Run it under hot water for 20 seconds. Ring out the cloth and place directly over the nose and eyes while laying on your back. Re-wet the cloth as the heat wears out. Repeat as often as needed to keep the sinuses draining.

Purchase an over-the-counter decongestant such as Sudafed. Take the decongestant as prescribed on the box. Purchase and take an over-the-counter antihistamine if the sinus congestion is related to allergies. Use a 24-hour antihistamine on a daily basis during allergy season.
