Sinus Gum Infections
-
Signs
-
The first sign of a potential sinus gum infection is when a person experiences tooth pain while having a sinus infection. This is the result of the infected sinus cavity pressing on the roots of the teeth.
Symptoms
-
A sinus gum infection will cause headaches, gum bleeding, abnormal bad breath, nasal discharge and tooth pain.
Prevention
-
In order to prevent sinus gum infection, an individual should see a doctor at the first sign of a sinus infection. A doctor will most likely recommend a round of antibiotics and a decongestant to clear up the infection before it can spread.
Considerations
-
A person who is over 35 and/or has a deficient immune system is more likely to acquire a sinus gum infection. Due to the fact that the body is already fighting the sinus infection, the immune system will be worn down, leaving the gums susceptible to infection.
Complications
-
A sinus gum infection that goes untreated can cause the infection to continue to spread into the throat, the ears and even the brain. If the infection becomes severe, an individual may have to be hospitalized to cure the infection.
