Vinegar Cures

Vinegar has been used throughout the ages to cure many common ailments. You can use distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar to treat cold and allergy symptoms, joint pain, headaches and a host of minor health problems. Before you begin to use vinegar, seek a doctor's advice to ensure that the vinegar will not interact with any medications.
  1. Joint Pain

    • Apple cider vinegar may alleviate the pain associated with joint pain, including arthritis and gout. Purchase an organic, unfiltered and raw apple cider vinegar from a health-food store or online herb retailer. Mix 1 to 3 tsp. vinegar into an 8-oz. glass of water. Drink the mixture three times a day right before meals.

An apple cider vinegar topical cream can be made to apply directly to your affected areas. Mix 1 tbsp. olive or coconut oil with 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, and apply it directly to your joints. Make a hand or foot soak by mixing 6 cups of warm water with 1 cup apple cider vinegar.

    Headache

    • Apply vinegar directly to your forehead to ease a headache. Soak a brown paper bag, washcloth or paper towel in undiluted apple cider or distilled white vinegar. Drape the soaked towel over your forehead until your headache is gone.

    Yeast Infection

    • Vinegar can be an effective yeast infection treatment for both men and women. Add 1 cup of either distilled white or apple cider vinegar to your bathwater, and soak in the mixture for at least 15 minutes twice daily.

    Colds & Allergies

    • Vinegar will soothe your sore throat and help eliminate some of the bacteria that is nesting in your throat. Heat 1 cup of water and add 1 tbsp. apple cider or distilled white vinegar with 1 tsp. honey. Drink the concoction two to three times per day. See your doctor if your sore throat does not improve within one to two days.

Vinegar has been shown to help reduce cold symptoms. Mix ¼ cup honey with ¼ cup apple cider vinegar. Drink the mixture up to eight times a day to combat your cold symptoms.

Vinegar can eradicate nasal allergy flareups. Pour ¼ to ½ cup of either distilled white or apple cider vinegar into a vaporizer or pot of steaming water. Position the vaporizer or pot near you until your symptoms subside.

    Miscellaneous

    • Drink 1 tsp. of apple cider or distilled white vinegar to stop hiccups.

Mix 1 tsp. white or apple cider vinegar with 1 tsp. honey to escape insomnia.

Dip your toothbrush in apple cider or distilled white vinegar to kill the bacteria on your toothbrush and to naturally whiten your teeth.

Pour vinegar on your hands and briskly rub them together to remove fruit and instant drink mix stains.
