Neo Citran Side Effects

Neo Citran is an antihistamine and decongestant combination used in the treatment of nasal congestion, sneezing, and runny noses. The medication works by preventing the effects of a chemical naturally produced in the body called histamine, which is responsible for the symptoms associated with the common cold. As with most cold medications, a number of side effects are associated with using the drug.

  1. Common Side Effects

    • As mentioned, certain side effects are associated with using Neo Citran. Some of these side effects include clumsiness, drowsiness, dryness in the mouth and eyes, flushing and redness of the face, headache, hallucinations, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, and trouble sleeping. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using the drug, they only affect a small number of users.

    Severe Side Effects

    • Some severe side effects can result from using this medication. Some of these side effects include back and leg pain, bleeding gums, black stool, bloody or dark urine, blurred vision, increased blood pressure, chest pain, diarrhea, confusion, fainting, dizziness, fever, chills, dizziness, hives, stillbirth, tightness of the chest, sudden perspiration, unusual bleeding or bruising, sudden weight gain, vomiting and yellowing of the skin.

    Important Safety Information

    • Neo Citran has been known to cause drowsiness and dizziness in some users. As a result, it is recommended that users do not operate any type of machinery (including automobiles) while using this medication. Please tell your doctor if you have ever had any type of allergic reaction to an antihistamine in the past. If you are pregnant, the occasional use of Neo Citran will not cause any harm to the unborn baby.

    Usage

    • Always use Neo Citran in direct conjunction with your doctor's orders and never exceed the dosage instructions written on the label. If you find that this medication upsets your stomach, it is recommended to take your next dosage with a meal. Always swallow the pill whole and never crush, break up, or chew the medication before ingesting. If you find the capsule is too big to swallow alone, you may put it into a food (i.e. peanut butter) to make it easier to swallow.

      If an overdose of Neo Citran is suspected, contact your local poison center and head directly to the emergency room.
