Home Remedies for Dry Cough With Acid Reflux

There are many different ways to subdue a bad cough, but some of the best remedies already may be in your house already. Instead of going out and spending money on prescription drugs or even over the counter drugs, try inexpensive homeopathic remedies.
  1. Garlic Cough Syrup

    • Garlic is one of nature's miracle cure-alls that has been used for centuries to treat the flu and to help digestive problems. A simple cough syrup can be made from garlic that will beat up the cough that is causing so much pain and annoyance. The natural healing enzymes found within the garlic cling to the airways and help subdue even the worst coughs and will settle the stomachaches being caused by acid reflux. To prepare properly, mince a half pound of garlic and place it into a quart jar. Completely cover the garlic with honey and place a lid onto the jar and secure tightly. Place the mixture into the refrigerator for at least 24 hours to marinate. Ideally, you would want to let the concoction marinate for about two weeks. In the morning, take a teaspoon of the mixture to subdue your cough for the better part of the morning hours. As you feel the urge to cough, take another teaspoon of the mixture to alleviate the urge.

    Herbal Tea

    • Herbal tea is another amazing cough remedy that has been used for centuries in Chinese culture. There are many different types of herbal teas out there, many of them very good for a bad cough, but none are better than chamomile tea. To prepare properly, pour hot water into a heat resistant mug along with the chamomile tea. Allow the tea to steep for about one minute. Mix in a tablespoon of honey along with a splash of lemon juice and drink slowly. The tea will help your cough melt away, and it will settle the acid buildup in your stomach that is causing discomfort.
