Fever

A fever is a rise in body temperature. If your body temperature rises past 98.6, then you have a fever. You need to keep your body cool and drink plenty of fluids.
Sore Throat

If your throat feels itchy or sore and it is exaggerated when you talk or swallow, then you are suffering from a sore throat. Throat lozenges and plenty of fluids will help this common early-flu symptom.
Muscle Pains

General aching and soreness of your body muscles also is a common early-flu symptom. Getting plenty of rest and taking pain relievers such as Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen will relieve some of the pain.
Coughing

Uncontrollable and sudden coughing can be experienced. Cover your mouth with a facial tissue to prevent the spread of germs.
Weakness

Feeling severely weak and fatigued is a normal early-flu symptom. In the worst cases, many people need someone to assist them with taking a bath and getting dressed. Plenty of rest and fluids will help relieve this symptom.
