Identify the Types of Flu Virus
-
1
Note there are three primary types of flu virus we consider to be the common flu. Influenza Types A and B are the two more dangerous forms of common influenza, while Type C is more commonly associated with less severe symptoms and ailments.
-
2
Be aware that Influenza Type A is the more virulent flu virus with a larger cross section of contagion. Several subtypes of flu we recognize today (Hong Kong Flu, Bird Flu, H5N1) are all part of the Influenza Type A category.
-
3
Recognize Influenza Type B as a strain of flu virus that affects humans almost exclusively, with the sole exception known being seals. This virus is less likely to cause a viral reaction, as most humans become immune at a very early age.
-
4
Identify Influenza Type C as the branch of the flu virus that is usually associated with local epidemics, but it is also considered the least lethal. It is also known for being far less severe in children.
-
5
Note that symptoms for each strain of flu virus are roughly the same. The potential for life-threatening symptoms is possible with each strain.
