If the family is low-income and the child is covered under Medicaid, the child can be issued a hearing aid at no cost. Even if the parents do not qualify as low-income, they can contact their local Social Security office to get information on the medically needy program.
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

This act is to ensure that each child be afforded a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). If the hearing aid is recommended by their Individualized Education Program, a hearing aid will be supplied to the child at no cost.
