How to Adjust Hearing Aids
Hearing aids can be a blessing and a source of frustration for anyone who suffers from hearing loss. Wearing and learning to use a hearing aid takes time and practice. Often the frustration is a result of using the wrong volume or having improper placement in the ear. You can make adjustments to your hearing aid that should help it work better and be more comfortable.Instructions

1
Adjust the volume by rotating the volume adjustment controls. This can usually be done with your pinkie finger while the hearing aid is in place. You may have to rotate the control in each direction to learn which way turns the volume up or down. The direction may be different or opposite for each ear.

2
Stop your hearing aid from whistling by adjusting the position of the hearing aid in your ear. If this does not work, then try cleaning the nozzle that fits into the ear. A build up of wax can lead to whistling.

3
Change the programming of your hearing aid by pushing the memory programming button. This is only for the advanced, pre-programmed hearing aids. These hearing aids have several settings that can be used, depending on your surroundings. By pressing the memory button, you can switch from a quiet room to a crowded, noisy-room setting.

Have the manufacturer readjust your hearing aid if these steps don't work. Some companies will readjust your hearing aid based on your audiogram free of charge.
