List of Inspirational Messages

No matter what your position in life may be, many times you may need an inspirational or motivational message to give you that extra boost to persevere. Perhaps you're going through a difficult time, or maybe you need an additional incentive to finish a difficult project. Whatever the case may be, there are a variety of inspirational messages that you can look to for guidance during a trying period.
  1. Inspirational Quotes

    • One of the best sources for inspirational messages are inspirational quotes. Often made by famous or well-known historical figures or philosophers, inspirational quotes can provide hints of wisdom that individuals can the interpret to fit their own situations. Quotes that encourage one to keep persevering are helpful. An example is: "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them." (Henry David Thoreau).

    Inspirational Proverbs

    • Inspirational proverbs differ from inspirational quotes in that they are often based on a certain nationality or belief system that provides comfort as well as inspiration to the person reading them. In addition, they are seldom attributed to a person but rather to a society. Examples of existing proverbs include Buddhist, Hindu, Catholic and Muslim in the religious category, and Irish, American, Chinese and Italian in the nationality category. A great example of an American proverb is: "From little acorns mighty oaks do grow."

    Inspirational Speeches

    • Other sources of inspirational messages come from well-known historical speeches made by people who have been heralded for their innovation and leadership qualities. The speech you choose to take your inspirational message from will depend on what it is you are seeking when you look to the speaker's for motivation. Great examples of speeches that inspired a generation of Americans, and that continue to do so today are Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, as well as John F. Kennedy's famous inaugural address excerpt "ask not what your country can do for you --- ask what you can do for your country."

    Inspirational Readings

    • The variety of inspirational readings is vast. Inspirational readings can be based on a belief system, and therefore people may look to their chosen religion's text, such as the Bible, Torah or Koran, for inspirational messages and guidance. However, others may find inspirational messages in the stories of everyday people who have lived through difficult experiences or have lived extraordinary lives. Look for memoirs of such people as inspirational reading and draw hopeful messages from the recollections of these individuals.
