How to Defeat Depression & Panic Attacks
Depression and panic attacks, or anxiety, are two very common medical conditions experienced by people of all ages. Depression and anxiety often go hand in hand, as they can both be caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. Each of these conditions often exacerbates the other. If you're too anxious to interact with people, you could become depressed and further isolated, which can increase the anxiety that's already present. These conditions can greatly impact your quality of life.Instructions

1
Make an appointment with your doctor. The first step to treating your depression and anxiety is a diagnosis by a medical professional. Your doctor can help evaluate your condition and work with you to create a treatment plan you're comfortable with, be it medication or other treatment methods.

2
Perform daily exercise to increase endorphins. Exercising is a great way to help increase both self-esteem and endorphin production, resulting in an improved mood. Many doctors recommend 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise five times a week. Check with your physician before starting any exercise regimen.

Try to put a positive slant on any given situation. When you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts that in turn create anxiety, try to flip them. For example, if you missed the bus this morning, be happy about catching another one only five minutes later -- if applicable.

Practice the art of meditation and deep breathing. It's normal to take shallow breaths when you're feeling anxious. Breathing deeply will help lessen anxiety. Meditation can also help relax you before a stressful encounter.

Consider medication to resolve your symptoms. Many people who suffer from depression or anxiety take antidepressant medication to relieve symptoms and combat chemical imbalances. Consult with your doctor to determine if medication is right for you, and which type is appropriate.
