What to Do When You Are Depressed Over a Guy
When a relationship ends, there is always a time of recovery. A break-up causes sadness and even depression, and a woman needs to deal with these feelings so that they do not turn into a lingering issue. The old adage that "there are plenty of fish in the sea" is a wise one to remember when trying to get over a guy and move on from the heartbreak of a failed relationship.-
Take Time
-
It's important to take time to get over a failed relationship, just as one grieves the death of a loved one. People grow accustomed to having someone in their life that they are close to and spend a lot of time with, and the absence of that person causes sadness and a sense of loss than can be overwhelming. Spending time learning to let go and to get through each day without that person is critical.
Come Up with a Plan
-
To avoid becoming depressed over losing that guy, make a plan for how to grieve the end of the relationship. Take a few weeks or a couple of months to adjust to life without him, then move on. Schedule a specific day that you will get on with your life, and stick to it. Remember, there is always someone else out there for everyone.
Go Out
-
Make plans with friends, when you're ready. Friends can help cheer you up, make you laugh and eliminate any sadness that could lead to depression. Even just talking to family and friends on the phone can help, but getting out of the house may be the perfect way to make new friends or even meet a new guy.
Find a Hobby
-
Stay busy so that thinking about that guy is not the first thing on your mind. Find a hobby that will keep you occupied. It can be something as simple as sewing or reading or as complex as writing a book or learning a new language. When the mind is busy with something else it does not have time to let a person get depressed over a break-up.
