Working Through the Pain
-
1
Come to terms with how you are feeling. Admit your feelings to yourself by writing them down or sharing them with trusted friends. Denial about what happened and your feelings prevents you from recovering. Acknowledge your feelings to take the first step toward healing.
-
2
Express your emotions. Cry if you need to. Let go of the sadness, pain and anger that you are feeling by allowing yourself to reveal them without judgment or shame.
-
3
Detach yourself from negative thoughts. Resolve to allow yourself to heal. Make a commitment to yourself that you will not replay negative events in your mind, blame, attack or cause more pain and suffering for yourself or others.
-
4
Review all the things you are grateful for in your life. Remember all the people, events and blessings that you currently have. Solidify a spirit of gratitude in your heart and in your mind. Do not let it go.
-
5
Enjoy yourself. Spend time with friends and loved ones. Participate in positive social activities. Surround yourself with nature and beauty. Move forward toward your goals in life with faith and courage.
