How to Build Good Self Esteem

Self esteem is essential to a healthy and productive life. Low self esteem can lead to depression. It affects your relationships and ultimately your health. The key to building self esteem is positive thinking and behaviors. Exercise, a healthy diet, learning new things and a gratitude journal are ways to build self esteem. Do something everyday for yourself, and in time you will feel increased self worth and confidence.

      Pay attention to your needs. Do something for yourself everyday such as taking having lunch with a friend, giving yourself a facial or reading a book. Make a list and try to do one thing each day.

      Eat six fruits and vegetables, six whole grains and two servings of protein everyday. Unhealthy foods make you feel tired and sluggish, which affects self esteem. Exercise everyday to boost energy and build self esteem. Consider walking or yoga.

      Accomplish something everyday around your home. Clean out a closet, paint a room, pay bills or pull some weeds. Accomplishments give you a sense of pride. Consider redecorating a room. Make it warm and welcoming with items you love.

      Challenge yourself by learning something new or volunteering. Take an art class, learn a foreign language or learn a new job skill. Consider volunteering at an animal or homeless shelter. Challenging yourself builds confidence.

      Write in a gratitude journal everyday. List five things you love about yourself and everything you accomplished for the day. Positive thoughts lead to good self esteem.
