    • One of the most important coping skills for people who suffer from depression is finding the right support system. Maintaining relationships with those who matter and getting involved in different activities is a critical part of dealing with depression. Such interaction can even provide temporary relief from symptoms.

      While the thought of establishing new relationships or even maintaining old ones can seem exhausting, keep in mind that the depression has put you in this mindset. Your friends and family care about you, and chances are that they are at a loss for how to help you. Help yourself by helping them to help you.

    Do Things You Used to Like Doing

    • Before you realized you were suffering from depression, chances are that there were things that you enjoyed doing. What made you happy? Perhaps you liked to read, or you really enjoyed your yoga sessions. Maybe there is something that you have been meaning to take up, such as running or going back to school.

      Doing something that you have always wanted to do or that you have enjoyed doing in the past can bring a sense of meaning to your life. This is important, as it is an excuse to find happiness when dealing with a disease that can take it all away.

Journaling, painting, drawing or even dancing are all great ways to get your emotions out. Give a new art form a try; you might just find that it is one of those things you enjoy doing.
