What Doses Does Lexapro Come In?

Lexapro, escitalopram, is an antidepressant prescription medication. It is classified in a class of drugs called SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). Lexapro is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved to treat major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder in adults and children over the age of twelve.
  1. Doses

    • Lexapro is available in 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg tablets. It is also available in 5mg/5ml oral solution.

    Dosage

    • Lexapro should be taken at the same time each day and with a full glass of water. Lexapro is recommend to be taken in the morning, unless specified by your doctor.

    Missed Dosage

    • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if you do not remember until it is time to take your next schedule dose do not take extra Lexapro to make up for the missed dosage.

    Identification

    • Lexapro comes in 5 mg, 10 mg, and 2 0mg white, round, tablets. It also comes in a 5mg/5ml oral solution that is peppermint flavored.

    Warning

    • Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Lexapro; it can increase the side effects. Before taking Lexapro, inform you doctor of any medications you are currently taking.
