What Are Bipolar Signs and Symptoms?
Bipolar disorder is not the easiest mental disease to diagnose, but there are a number of symptoms. Some are hard to diagnose because they could be categorized with more than one disease.-
Sadness
-
Sadness is the first sign of bipolar disorder. It can lead to a lack of energy for everyday activities, plus hopelessness, anxiety and sometimes suicidal thoughts.
Physical
-
Physical problems include insomnia, loss of appetite, weight loss, fatigue, and sometimes chronic pain that has no rational explanation.
Mania
-
Manic episodes might signal bipolar disorder. A manic episode is when someone feels euphoric, makes impulsive decisions, has rapid speech and racing thoughts for a short period.
Attention
-
Someone with a manic attack or bipolar disorder often has trouble paying attention. He or she can be distracted easily and cannot concentrate on simple tasks.
Judgment
-
Someone in the midst of a manic episode will make poor decisions, often resulting in aggressive behavior, risky behavior and increased physical activity. This can cause drug, alcohol, gambling and sexual problems.
