What Are the Symptoms of a Manic State of Bipolar Disorder?

A person who is bipolar may experience a manic state of mind at any time. Manic episodes can occur regularly. There are a number of symptoms that can help in the diagnosis of a manic bipolar state.
  1. Attention

    • A person who suffers with a manic attack may be extremely irritable and easily distracted. Their mind is somewhere else and this can cause their temperament to be high.

    Energy

    • Another symptom of a manic state of mind is increased energy, activity, agitation and rapid talking. This person may also have feelings as if they are intoxicated.

    Risks

    • If a person is in a manic state of mind they are more likely to be making impulsive decisions without thinking. Their decision making skills are not superior and at times they may engage in risky behavior.

    Obsessive Behavior

    • Other symptoms of a manic state of mind is insomnia, substance abuse and increased sex drive. These problems relate to the impulsive decision making that also occurs in the manic state.

    Behavior

    • Denial of problems or extremely obnoxious, abnormal behavior are also signs of a manic episode.
