Prayer for Depression
-
1
Pray silently that God would have mercy. Some of the best prayers ever uttered were done so by the Psalmists, and most of the Psalms have a form of the prayer "have mercy on me God," because these prayers allow a person to give God total control of their outcomes. When a person has depression, it is a very dark place to be mentally, a place where they have no room to make demands of God.

Ask God to bring you joy and happiness. This will locate the heart of the problem that is depression. Praying this essentially puts your depression up for exchange. Do not simply ask God to take away your depression, but be proactive and request positive attributes. Don't stop at personal joy and happiness. Pray that God would increase your compassion, your faith, love, hope and all the fruits of the Spirit.

Take 30 minutes every day to pray these things to God. Meditate on him and the Bible, using this time to not only focus on the greater possibilities that shall come, but admitting your weakness to God. Praying that God heals you of your depression is an exercise in humility, and reminds you that you cannot be happy simply out of your own accord.
