Cymbalta is a drug used for many different conditions, primarily depression and specific types of pain.

• Cymbalta contains duloxetine hydrochloride, which is a type of antidepressant called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI).

Depression

• Depression is a medical illness that impacts more than just an individual's emotions. It is believed that Cymbalta helps this condition because the increase of serotonin and norepinephrine is believed to ease the symptoms. Serotonin and norepinephrine are both naturally found in the human brain and spinal cord.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

• Generalized anxiety disorder is when an individual has excessive worries about everyday problems for at least six months. Individuals with generalized anxiety disorder can't control anxiety and have a hard time functioning in their every day lives.
