Cymbalta Drug Uses

Cymbalta is a drug used for many different conditions, primarily depression and specific types of pain.
  1. Cymbalta

    • Cymbalta contains duloxetine hydrochloride, which is a type of antidepressant called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI).

    Depression

    • Depression is a medical illness that impacts more than just an individual's emotions. It is believed that Cymbalta helps this condition because the increase of serotonin and norepinephrine is believed to ease the symptoms. Serotonin and norepinephrine are both naturally found in the human brain and spinal cord.

    Generalized Anxiety Disorder

    • Generalized anxiety disorder is when an individual has excessive worries about everyday problems for at least six months. Individuals with generalized anxiety disorder can't control anxiety and have a hard time functioning in their every day lives. It is believed that the same ingredients that help with depression in some doses can also help with generalized anxiety disorder.

    Diabetic Nerve Pain

    • Diabetes can harm the body's nerves. Nerves that have been damaged are quite painful and don't typically respond to traditional treatments. Patients are reporting relief from diabetic nerve pain when they use Cymbalta.

    Fibromyalgia

    • Fibromyalgia is chronic pain that is widespread with accompanying tenderness for at least three months. Cymbalta can help ease the pain and improve functionality.
