How to Help Someone Overcome Depression
Depression can be extremely difficult to climb out of alone. The strong moods that accompany it can be exacerbated by loneliness, or the feeling of loneliness. It can also be frustrating for friends and family of someone who is suffering a bout of depression, and that frustration can boil over in negative ways. Dealing with people who are depressed is tough, and helping them get through it can be emotionally exhausting. Here are some steps to take when you're not sure what to do.Instructions

1
Go outside with your friend. Being active is a good way to get endorphins going and give the mind and body a reprieve from gloom. The sunlight won't hurt, either.
-
2
Socialize with others. Most people won't act so depressed when they are in a group, and the distractions of attention and friends will ease the feelings of loneliness and alienation.
-
3
Make sure your friend is eating a balanced diet. Offer to take her out to eat or cook a particular meal for her.
-
4
Open yourself up to talking and/or listening. Communication in itself is therapy.
-
5
Encourage your friend to focus on a hobby, or participate in it with him.
-
6
Know when to leave your friend alone. Communication and human interaction are important, but so are solitude and self-reflection. If your friend needs time to herself, give it to her.
