Precautions

When combined with alcohol, benzodizepines can cause dizziness or even coma. These medications can cause respiratory failure, and should not be used by individuals with sleep apnea.
Withdrawal Symptoms

Anxiety, panic attacks, depression, suicidal ideation, insomnia, hypertension, tremors, loss of appetite, sweating, delusions and nausea can be caused by a sudden withdrawal from daily or frequent use of benzodiazepines.

Benzodiazepines are available by prescription only, since they are Schedule IV controlled drugs under the U.S. Federal Controlled Substances Act.
