Symptoms of Anxiety & Panic Attacks

Panic and anxiety attacks are often mistaken for heart attacks. You may feel as if you are having a nervous breakdown. The symptoms are similar to other conditions, making it hard to identify exactly what you are experiencing. This is what you can expect when having an anxiety or panic attack.
  1. Differences

    • Panic attacks will usually appear suddenly and be very intense. Anxiety attacks usually intensify over time.

    Terror

    • If you are having a panic or anxiety attack you may suddenly experience a feeling of terror. You may be convinced that doom or death is imminent.

    Chest Pains

    • You may experience chest pain that may or may not lead to having difficulties breathing. A racing or pounding heartbeat could accompany chest pain.

    Control

    • If you are experiencing a panic or anxiety attack, you may feel that you are losing control or that you have already lost all control.

    Other Symptoms

    • During a panic attack, you may feel dizzy, faint, or weak. You may have numbness or tingling in the hands or fingers and have chills or feel sweaty.

    Anxiety Attack - Other

    • The symptoms of an anxiety attack will usually be less intense than a panic attack. You may feel restless, have difficulty concentrating or sleeping and may be very irritable.
