How to deal with depression going through a divorce
A divorce can shake you to your very core, wreaking havoc on your emotions. Whether you were married to your spouse for two years or 40, losing that person can feel like losing part of yourself. The grief and anger accompanying divorce can turn into depression, especially if losing your spouse also means losing your children. It is not uncommon when going through a divorce to feel like you will never love again, but these feelings usually pass when you find a way to deal with your grief and depression.Instructions

1
Surround yourself with people who love you. Lean on your family and friends for support, and let them know you want to be included in their social activities. Ask them to visit you or take you out when you feel you are isolating yourself.

2
Exercise as often as possible. Whether it's taking out your anger on a punching bag at the gym or just going for a walk around the block, moving your body elevates your mood. Getting back in shape if you've gotten out of shape can also boost your self-esteem.

Do all the things you love to do but your ex hated. If you're a fan of camping, but your ex couldn't stand roughing it, buy a new tent and head into the woods for the weekend. If you love barbecue and your ex was a vegetarian, try all the restaurants you could never go to together. Rediscovering your interests will help remind you of who you are.

Clean house. Throw away pictures, clothes or knick-knacks reminding you of your ex, and reclaim your space as your own. If you can't afford new furniture, slipcover what you have. Scrub every surface your ex ever touched. Not only will your home be spotless, it will be purged of reminders of your relationship.

Seek counseling, especially if you feel you are in danger of suicide or self-harm. Therapy and antidepressants can work wonders; allow them to change your life for the better.
