How to Cheer Up
-
1
Refocus your thoughts. Don’t dwell on whatever it is that has you feeling down. If you constantly think about what’s making you feel bad then you will continue to feel bad. Try to replace those thoughts with positive and happy thoughts. Think of good times you’ve had or funny things you’ve heard or seen.

2
Get active. Exercise, go for a swim or bike ride, play a sport, do some gardening, dance, or do some other kind of physical activity. Physical activity releases endorphins which help to boost your mood. It also helps to do something physical because your mind will be focused on what you’re doing and not what’s making you feel bad.

3
Listen to some music. Music is a great way to lift your mood. You can dance around to it or just get lost in the music itself. If you’re able to play an instrument, create some music of your own. Playing some music by your favorite artists can help you to forget about what is making you feel down.

4
Do something for someone else. Focusing your attention on someone else will take your attention off of yourself and help you to feel better. Do some volunteer work or help out a friend or family member.
-
5
Hang out with friends or family. It can help you to be around other people. Most likely they will know some ways to cheer you up and before you know it you will be laughing and thinking happier thoughts. You can go shopping, catch a movie, visit an amusement park, or do something else fun.
-
6
Watch your favorite movie or television program. If your favorite movie is a tearjerker then watch a comedy instead. Don’t do anything that will make you sadder. There are many funny sitcoms you can watch. Also consider going to some comedy clubs in your area to try to get some laughs.

7
Have yourself a good cry. Sometimes you feel down because you have some emotions bottled up that you need to release. Don’t hold back, let out whatever is bothering you. Crying can be therapeutic and help to release any sad feelings you are having.
