Insulin Resistance Symptoms

Insulin allows your body to introduce glucose into your cells from your bloodstream. When you eat foods with a high content of refined carbohydrates, your insulin levels rise. If this occurs frequently, your cells decrease the amount of insulin receptors they have, which prevents glucose from properly entering the cells. In turn, this causes excess glucose in your bloodstream. This condition is called insulin resistance. Insulin resistance may lead to diabetes.
