How to Set the Date and Time on an Ascensia Elite XL Glucometer

In order to ensure accuracy in tracking blood sugar levels over time with glucose meters, it is imperative that the meter's settings are intact. As such, the date and time must be reset on your Ascensia Elite XL Glucometer when the unit is new and each time the batteries are changed.

  1. Getting Started

      Before you can set the date and time on your Ascensia Elite XL Glucometer, you should ensure the batteries are properly installed.

      Place each CR-2032 Lithium battery in the open slots with the "+" symbol facing up.

      Slide the battery cover into place and close it firmly.

      Power on your Ascensia Elite XL Glucometer.

    Setting the Date and Time

      Press and hold the large button on the upper-left corner of the unit, above the display screen, to activate the set-up mode. Once the display begins to flash, you have five seconds to select the item you wish to modify.

      Press the button again to select the second menu option. This menu gives you the option to set the minute, hour, day, month, and year.

      Select the current time and set it by pressing the button. Next, you can set the day, month, and year. Be sure to press the button each time to save your data.

      You may change the format of the date and time display on your meter by selecting the third menu option. Use the button to choose between a 12- or 24-hour-day format and a day/month or month/day display.

      After you have set the date and time on your Ascensia Elite XL Glucometer, it will automatically return you to the normal display screen and will then power itself off. To verify that you have followed all of the steps above correctly, simply power the unit back on and check the display settings. The unit will power off again after a few seconds of non-use.
