Instructions

-
1
Open the pen cap and sterilize the rubber seal with an alcohol swab.
-
2
Remove the new needle from its protective seal. Screw the needle onto the pen top, keeping it in line with the pen. Twist it until it is securely attached. NOTE: If the needle is not screwed straight, it can damage the rubber cap, which may cause leaks or possibly break the needle.
-
3
Do a safety test by turning the dosage knob to a dosage of 2.
-
4
Remove the needle's outer cap and save it. Remove and discard the needle's secondary cap.
-
5
Hold the pen with its needle pointing straight up. Tap the insulin reservoir so that any inside bubbles will rise to the top.
-
6
Expel the dosage by pressing the injection button all the way in. If no liquid comes out, repeat Step 5.
-
7
Check the dosage window after the safety test to make sure it reads zero (0).
-
8
Turn the dial to the dosage required. This ranges from 1 to 80 according to physician recommendations.
-
9
Sterilize the chosen administering site with alcohol. Insulin should be injected into the abdomen (NOT around the navel), upper thighs or upper arms.
-
10
Pinch the area of administration and insert the needle directly into the skin, keeping the needle perpendicular to the administering site.
-
11
Inject the dosage until the dosage meter reads zero (0).
-
12
Count to 10 with the needle still injected, keeping the injection button pressed.
-
13
With the injection button still pressed in, remove the needle.
-
14
Remove the needle from the pen. Place the outer cap from Step 4 on the needle to safely discard it.
-
15
Replace the pen cap and store the pen.
