Second Stage Diabetic Symptoms

Type 2 diabetes is likely caused by an excess of fat and a lack of activity. The body becomes more resistant to insulin, which causes blood sugar levels to rise and can lead to serious (even fatal) health issues. Type 2 diabetic symptoms often match Type 1 diabetic symptoms, and can appear at any stage in life.
  1. Numbness or Tingling

    • Type 2 diabetes damages the kidneys and circulatory system, which can cause numbness in the extremities, a tingling sensation and/or swelling of the hands and feet.

    Excessive Thirst or Hunger

    • Increased thirst or hunger is a frequent sign of Type 2 diabetes, as is a sudden and surprising loss of weight.

    Frequent Urination

    • People with Type 2 diabetes have to use the bathroom more often than most people.

    Frequent Infection and Slow Healing

    • Type 2 diabetes hinders the body's ability to heal cuts and sores. Patients also come down with infections on a regular basis, which prove equally slow to heal.

    Blurry Vision

    • As Type 2 diabetes progresses, it begins to affect the eyesight, resulting in blurred or indistinct vision.
