How to Work the Accu-Chek Active Tester

• Test strips
• Towel
• Alcohol swabs

  Insert the coding key from the test strip container into the slot on the side of the meter. Check the code displayed on the screen to be sure it matches the code on the container.

  Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly with paper towels or a clean cotton towel.

  Open the test strip container. Check the shade of the yellow circle on the back of the strip against the yellow stripe on the test strip container. If the colors do not match, discard the strip and use a new one.

  Insert the strip into the slot on the narrow end of the meter. Slide the strip in with the arrows facing up and pointing toward the meter. The test strip will stop when you have inserted it all the way. Look for the flashing blood drop on the screen to confirm you inserted the strip properly.

  Wipe the tip of a finger with an alcohol swab. Pierce your finger with the lancing device included with your meter and squeeze a drop of blood onto your finger. Wipe the first blood drop away with the alcohol swab, then squeeze out a second drop of blood for testing.

  Place the blood drop onto the orange pad on the test strip. The meter display counts down once it collects the proper amount of blood. Your blood glucose test result appears on the meter display.

  Pull the strip from the meter and dispose of it in a sharps container to protect others from biohazard exposure.
